Prospective Homeowner Classes come to Florence

ABC's of Homebuying

Prospective homeowners and other residents seeking to deepen their understanding of home buying and financial management should consider the free classes being offered locally by NEDCO — the Neighborhood Economic Development Corporation. Crucially, these classes are required for participation in NEDCO’s Individual Development Accounts, which will be an important resource for those hoping to buy a home in NEDCO’s proposed affordable cottage development on Airport Road. Typically, the courses are only offered at the organization’s Lane County headquarters in Springfield.

The first course, Financial Foundations, was offered this past Saturday, but interested Florentines can register for a future course through the links below.

The second offering, The ABC’s of Homebuying, will be hosted at the Siuslaw Public Library’s Bromley Room this Saturday, May 4th, from 9:00-5:00. Topics covered in the all-day course include financial planning, credit preparation, finding affordable mortgages, down payment assistance, and opportunities in Community Land Trusts. Interested residents should sign up for the course by May 1st to take advantage of free advance registration.

NEDCO is a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation that offers an array of resources and educational opportunities across Oregon, including tools for homeownership, financial success, and starting small businesses. Annual memberships are available which give access to unlimited classes, one-on-one counseling, and innovative wealth-building programs.
