Youth Police Academy 2024
The FPD Youth Police Academy is week long summer program for Siuslaw students ages 13-18 interested in law enforcement. This program is designed to give our youth community members an immersive opportunity to explore a career in a way they have not before. Over the week, students will learn from law enforcement agencies all over Lane County about the duties and experiences officers have had. Students will gain hands on experience with everyday law enforcement duties such as report writing, court trials, CSI, building searches, physical training, how to conduct interviews, and emergency vehicle operations. Students will then take a trip to the Juvenile Jail in Eugene to learn about the corrections and court process. Students will also receive CPR, First Aid, and Fire training from Western Lane Ambulance and Siuslaw Valley Fire and Rescue. The academy will run from June 24th to June 29th, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
