Employee Medical Benefits
Welcome to the City of Florence's medical benefits page. We are proud to offer our employees a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision coverage. Our benefits administrator is Citycounty Insurance Services (CIS), a non-profit organization that provides insurance and risk management services to local governments in Oregon. CIS has a long history of working with public employers and is dedicated to providing quality insurance products and services to our employees.
City Provided Benefits
Medical, Dental, and Vision
Our medical benefits include a variety of options to meet the diverse needs of our employees and their families.
Our medical insurance is provided through Regence BlueCross BlueShield and offers a high deductible healthcare plan. We offer one plan option with a deductible of $2,500 for employee only coverage and $5,000 for employee plus any dependents. The maximum out-of-pocket expenses for this plan are $5,000 for individuals and $10,000 for those on the employee plus any dependents plan.
What makes our medical plan unique is that the City currently pays 100% of the monthly premium for all employees. We also use HSA Bank, and employees on the employee only plan receive 100% of the deductible paid by the City into their HSA. For those on the employee plus any dependents plan, the City pays 80% of the deductible into the employee's HSA. This benefit is an amazing value for our employees and is just one of the many ways we are committed to supporting their health and well-being. The full amount is contributed in January, with employees starting after January 1 receiving a prorated amount each month.
Our dental coverage is provided through Delta Dental. Our plans cover a wide range of services, and coverage amounts increase each year an employee goes to the dentist, up to 100%. We offer comprehensive coverage to help our employees maintain their oral health.
Our vision coverage is provided through VSP. Our plans cover routine exams, eyeglasses, and contacts, as well as discounts on additional vision-related services. We understand the importance of good vision and are committed to providing our employees with access to quality vision care.
Employee Assistance Program
We are committed to supporting the well-being of our employees and their families. As part of this commitment, we offer an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) through Canopy EAP. This program provides confidential counseling, legal and financial resources, and work-life services to employees and their families.
Basic Life Insurance and Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance
We offer basic life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) insurance to all eligible employees. These policies provide $25,000 in coverage each, and police employees receive an additional $10,000 in statutory life insurance.
Long-Term Disability
We understand the impact that a long-term disability can have on an employee and their family. That's why we offer long-term disability (LTD) insurance to eligible employees. This insurance provides income protection in the event that an employee becomes unable to work due to a covered disability.
Supplemental Benefits
We offer a variety of supplemental benefits that employees can elect to enroll in at their own expense. These benefits include accident, critical illness, and hospital indemnity insurance through MetLife or Aflac, identity theft insurance through Allstate, short-term disability, and trauma insurance. These benefits are designed to provide additional protection and peace of mind to our employees and their families.
We are committed to providing our employees with a competitive and comprehensive benefits package that supports their health and well-being. If you have any questions about our medical benefits or other benefits offerings, please contact our Human Resources department.
