Greentrees Village Water Service Modification Project

Project Type:
Water
Project Status:
Completed

Florence Public Works staff along with RH2 Engineering, Inc. have been working on the design of a much-needed project to replace the existing master water meter and service piping to the Greentrees West subdivision. The existing water meter has been in service since the development was first constructed back in the early 1970’s and it has put in many years of service at Greentrees West serving 199 properties within the gated community. This should be a relatively quick project with minimal impact on surrounding water customers outside of the development.

Status Updates

August 2nd

Crews from Ray Wells, Inc completed the pavement restoration work. With the pavement surfaces restored, the project is complete.

July 26th

Crews from Ray Wells, Inc were joined by Florence Utility Division crews in bringing the new water master meter online. While Ray Wells crews were removing the old water meter, City crews activated the Pressure Reducing Valve (PRV) station on Rhododendron to ensure that our customers in Wildwinds, Marine Manor, Oregon Coast Humane Society and Lane County Transfer Station had water. City crews also isolated the Greentrees West system and bypassed the old meter in order to provide water to Greentrees West. During the day on Wednesday and into Thursday afternoon, all of Greentrees was being supplied water from the 6-inch master water meter located on the emergency access road from Park Village to Greentrees East.

By 3pm on Thursday, Greentrees West was fully switched to the new 8-inch master water meter. Our project not only installed a new 8-inch master water meter and backflow prevention device, but we also successfully integrated the West and East sides of Greentrees together. This means that both the Greentrees East 6-inch master water meter and the new 8-inch Greentrees West master water meter is capable of supplying the water demands to the development. The development will have higher fire flows and improved water pressure since there are now two points of connection supplying water to the development.

July 19th

Ray Wells continued this week by installing the 8in waterline and fittings to the New Master Meter at Greentrees West. The project is now 50% complete.

July 12th

Crews from Ray Wells, Inc. removed a tree that was impacting the location of the new water meter utility vault. With assistant from Public Works crews, by-passed the existing water meter (Greentrees West has full water service) and then removed the old master water meter. This is in preparation of installing a new 8’ x 10’ water meter vault and meter assembly.
