Lane County Parks Master Plan Update Public Comment

Lane County Seeks Input on Draft 20-Year Parks Master Plan

Lane County invites public comment on its draft 20-year Parks Master Plan, which when finalized will guide the management of county parks from 2016 to 2036. This is the first comprehensive update to the original 1980 master plan. The draft plan identifies strategic investments in parks and open space throughout Lane County that is consistent with identified recreation needs and public input.

Copies of the draft master plan are also available at the following public libraries:

  • Eugene Public Library (100 W. 10th Ave., Eugene)
  • Cottage Grove Library (700 E Gibbs Ave., Cottage Grove)
  • Creswell Library (64 W. Oregon Ave., Creswell)
  • Siuslaw Public Library (1460 9th St., Florence)
  • Fern Ridge Library (88026 Territorial Hwy., Veneta)

There are five open house meetings scheduled this fall to allow community members to provide feedback and ask questions of Parks staff. All five meetings are open to the public and scheduled from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

  • Thursday, September 10: Council Chambers, Florence City Hall (250 Hwy. 101, Florence)
  • Tuesday, September 22: Lane Fire Authority (88050 Territorial Hwy., Veneta)
  • Thursday, September 24: Harris Hall, Lane County Public Service Building (125 E. 8th Ave., Eugene)
  • Tuesday, October 6: McKenzie Fire and Rescue’s Leaburg station (42870 McKenzie Hwy., Leaburg)
  • Thursday, October 8: Cottage Grove Community Center (700 E. Gibbs Ave., Cottage Grove)

Community members are also welcome to share their favorite photos of Lane County parks that may be used in the final master plan document. Photos can be submitted to laneparks@co.lane.or.us.

Lane County manages 4300 acres of parks and open space spread across 70 parks.
