CITY PROPOSES TO CLOSE BAY STREET TO
HOST COMMUNITY BLOCK PARTY

On Friday July 19th from 2:00 – 10:30 p.m.
On Bay Street between Siuslaw River Bridge and Laurel Street
Party Times: from 5:30 – 9:00 p.m.; Street Closure Times: from 2:00 p.m. – 10:30 p.m.

About the Street Closure: The City of Florence is proposing to close Bay Street from just east of the Siuslaw River Bridge to Laurel Street in Old Town for the ‘Florence Community Block Party’ to be held on Friday, July 19, 2019. The City has also requested a noise variance in order to have live music on the site during the event. The street is proposed to be closed from 2 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. on Friday July 19, 2019.

About the Event:  The Florence Community Block Party is planned to consist of community activities geared to all age levels including kids activities, rock painting and live music. Businesses and local shops are encouraged to stay open later than usual for this celebration. To learn more about the event Click Here

Public Hearing on Street Closure: As an affected business or property owner, the Council seeks your comments on this request.  The Council will take public comment at its meeting beginning at 5:30 pm on June 17, 2019 at the Florence City Hall located at 250 Hwy 101.

The City Council will consider whether the application meets the criteria outlined in Florence City Code 7-5-1-1 as well as the following two criteria:

(1) Is the information provided by the applicant credible and is the plans submitted by the applicant adequate to protect the city, the public and the affected property owners?

(2) Is the potential harm and inconvenience to public and affected property owners created by this road closure reasonably mitigated or avoided by the applicant’s plan for the event?
