Tsunami Evacuation Facilities Improvement Plan Survey

We all know that a Cascadia Subduction Zone (CSZ) earthquake and tsunami event would catastrophically impact our community and that it is a question of when, not if. We also know that one of the best ways to protect life during such an event is to have resilient evacuation infrastructure (e.g., routes, signage, facilities) and a community that is well-informed to implement evacuation procedures effectively.

To aid in building this capability, the City, in partnership with the Oregon Department of Land Conservation and Development (DLCD), is developing a Tsunami Evacuation Facility Improvement Plan (TEFIP). This plan will assess our community’s vulnerability to a CSZ event in relation to the adequacy of our evacuation infrastructure. The results of this assessment will inform a set of recommended improvements that can guide the City’s investments in enhancing our evacuation capability.

So, how can you help? Our residents and partners are one of our greatest resources in better understanding how we can improve, and one of the first things we would like to do is gather information and feedback from the community regarding their awareness of our existing evacuation procedures and infrastructure. The following link will take you to a brief survey to gather your feedback and input. Please provide as much detail as possible based on your knowledge.
