2023 City of Florence Parking Code Updates
Background
On Monday, September 11, 2023, the Florence City Council voted to adopt Ordinance No. 8. Series 2023 allowing a vehicle to on-street park for 72 hours before requiring it to move a minimum of a 600' radius, not allowing the vehicle to return the same area for 14 days after its departure. The ordinance also prohibits on-street parking for vehicles with expired tags, regardless of the length of time for which it is parked. The ordinance went into effect 30 days after September 11th, on Wednesday, October 11, 2023.
Frequently Asked Questions
- How long am I permitted to park on City streets? Vehicles can park up to 72 hours, then must move outside a radius of 600' from that location, not returning to that location for 14 days.
- How far do I have to move? Vehicles must move outside of a 600' radius from their current location, not to return for 14 days.
- My tags are expired. Will I be cited? Yes. Vehicles with expired registration cannot park on City streets.
- What about my personal vehicle? It's parked in front of my house on the street. Code Enforcement is complaint-driven. The officer will not cite personal vehicles in front of residences unless there is a complaint, and unless the vehicle has not moved. Take your vehicle on a spin around the block or to the grocery store, or swap it with a vehicle in your driveway that is more frequently used to avoid the issue altogether. Remember to keep your registration current.
- How can I file a complaint with Code Enforcement? First, gather as many details as you can about the vehicle in question. When did it arrive? Are the tags expired? Next, call 541-902-2180 or file an online complaint here.
- I've received a pink slip from Code Enforcement informing me I need to move my vehicle. How much notice have I been given? 24 hours notice.
- My registration is current and I am within my 72 hour time period. What can't I do while parked on the street? You cannot unload your vehicle in the right-of-way, have any open flames, or obstruct the sidewalk in any capacity. Dumping of any kind is prohibited.
