ARBOR DAY 2025

Each year the City of Florence's Environmental Management Advisory Committee (EMAC) holds an Arbor Day celebration to honor and uphold Florence's Tree City status.

Plant Some Love for Arbor Day

Community Planting Event at Gallagher Park

Join the Environmental Management Advisory Committee (EMAC), the Florence Garden Club, and the Rhododendron Society for a special Arbor Day celebration as we Plant Some Love at Gallagher Park!

This year’s event focuses on enhancing the park’s natural beauty by planting native shrubs and rhododendrons—building on last year’s success with the 18th Street pollinator garden.

Event Details:

Date: Friday, April 26, 2025
Time: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Location: Gallagher Park — Northeast corner of Spruce Street & Hwy 126th, Florence, OR

What to Expect:

  • Planting native shrubs and landscape plants, including rhododendrons
  • A peaceful morning in one of Florence’s most scenic parks, featuring gravel trails, a meandering Munsel Creek, majestic Douglas Fir and Sitka Spruce, and a stunning rhododendron collection in bloom
  • Community collaboration with local garden clubs and volunteers
  • Tools and native plants provided courtesy of Siuslaw Watershed Council and EMAC

Gallagher Park has been lovingly maintained by community groups, including quarterly cleanups and plantings. The daffodils you see in bloom today are the result of a fall planting by these dedicated volunteers.

We invite everyone—gardeners, nature lovers, and families—to come out, lend a hand, and help us continue cultivating this beautiful community space.

Let’s work together to Plant Some Love this Arbor Day!
